AS FEATURED ON:
The Short Story
Hey! I’m a Scottish backpacker turned digital nomad with a passion for adventure in the outdoors, van life, and international travel. My goal was to visit 100 countries before I turned 30 years old, which I can now officially say that I have completed. What’s next? Follow the journey!
I was born and raised in the Highlands of Scotland (with family heritage from the Isle of Lewis). This has become increasingly popular over recent years for the infamous North Coast 500. Throughout the years of my childhood, I enjoyed the surrounding lochs, mountains and beaches with friends or family on many road trips.
The Long Story
My professional career originated in Edinburgh, where I studied Graphic Design at Napier University. I travelled as much as I could afford during my summers as a student, reaching as far as the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador and the trans-siberian railway in Russia. Thereafter, I gained a job in advertising from an internship in London. After gaining experience in a traditional 9-to-5 office job (with steady paychecks and material perks), my underlying desire to live a lifestyle centred around travel became undeniable. Then, I just quit.

The transition was fairly painless as I was certain that digital nomadism was my ticket to travel… And I was right! My freelance career successfully funded my travels between 2018 and 2022 (for four whole years!).
It’s important to do what feels exhilarating and right for you. The adventure is out there waiting, and I live for the moments when I question my decisions as I pop out from the Arrival Halls at an airport into a whole new foreign world to me.
The setup of ‘KatieGoes’ in 2019 was originally inspired by direct messages I would receive:
“Have you got a blog or YouTube channel?“.
Now I can reply, “YES! I actually do!“
My passion for travel blogging continued for several reasons, including the creative purpose that the website gave to my albums and albums’ worth of photography. As a Freelance Graphic Designer, I am always looking for ways to push my creative juices. Back then, travel blogging was a passion project that I’d fill my spare time with. To this day, I’m thrilled to say that travel blogging does not feel like a chore or a job. Three years later, I still love sharing the world with you!
